On Feb. 14, 2019, residents and associates at Life Care Center at Wells Crossing in Orange Park, Florida, had a lovely time at the facility’s second annual Valentine’s Day Prom.
Taylor Express provided a variety of live music for dancing, and residents enjoyed cupcakes, treats and punch with sherbet.
The highlight of the celebration, however, was the crowning of the king and queen, as well as a prince and princess. Residents had cast their votes for the king and queen positions, which went to Richard Haertel and Karen Brooker.
“I had more fun at the Valentine’s prom than at my own wedding,” said Brooker.
Associates had voted for the prince and princess among the staff, bestowing the honor on Dane Sturgeon, director of rehab services, and Joyce Ball, a nurse.
“Being chosen princess to participate in the event with the clients was a great privilege,” said Ball. “We are all very happy to be included in the events.”
Sturgeon added, “It felt good to be recognized by our peers.”
