On Feb. 14, 2018, Life Care Center at Wells Crossing in Orange Park, Florida, celebrated a special Valentine’s Day court.
The dining room was decorated for the holiday in hearts and balloons, and associates rolled out a red carpet for the King, Queen, Prince and Princess. Associates and residents voted on these royal court members.
Residents Gene Peckinpaugh and Mary Snook were named King and Queen. Tony King, laundry and housekeeping assistant, was named Prince, and Carmen Gibbons, certified nursing assistant, was named Princess. The ladies received tiaras and custom-made sashes, while the gentlemen received crowns. Each winner received a gift in a Valentine’s box.
The consensus among these royals was the surprise.
“Why me?” asked Peckinpaugh.
“I’ve never won anything in my life,” said Gibbons. “I was so excited about winning the princess for the Valentine’s party.”
Life Care Center at Wells Crossing plans to make the coronation an annual event.
